philosophy statement

I would like to vote "yes" for the revised philosophy statement. I need
to send in my vote now because I'm going out of town until after the
voting period. I hope this is okay.

I would also like to suggest a name: How about GALAS, for Gender And
Language ASsociation? That way we can keep the name we already know and
love (and "pluralize" it to have even more festivities!), while
distinguishing ourselves from the European organization with the GALA
acronymn, the name of which I never heard of before and probably never
will again, and have already forgotten. (Sorry! That one got out
before I could catch it!)
