sources on evaluative talk?

Hi Everyone.

I hope you all can point me in the right direction(s).  I am working
on a paper that has to do with evaluative talk and adolescent girls
and I am looking for some sources that can inform my understanding of
evaluative talk in general.  I've read a few things on gossip but I
still don't have a clear understanding about just what people mean
when they talk about "evaluative language".   Perhaps you can suggest
some relevant social science articles?
