Sources for Rites of Passage to Adulthood

Dear IGALA members

One of my students is interested in the topic of rites of passage to
adulthood.  My background is in linguistics, not anthropology, so I was
hoping that members of the list could provide some good starting points
for research and reading on this topic -- particularly as relates to
issues of gender, language use, and/or cultural discourses.
