Dear all

Just a reminder that nominations for members of the IGALA Advisory
Council close on Dec. 24. The original message (with all details)
appears below. You can in fact self-nominate or (preferably) nominate/be
nominated by someone else. We are not short of nominees but want to be
sure that everyone who is interested will have a chance.

To stand for election, you *must* be (or have applied to be) a member of
IGALA by Dec. 24. See:

Best wishes to all

Jane and Vicky

PS Another reminder: if you are responding to a specific request on this
List, please respond to the person concerned *only* and not to the
entire List.

Previous message:

Dear all

IGALA is seeking between 5 and 8 members for the Advisory Council, to
replace current Advisory Council members. We are looking for as broad a
geographic spectrum as possible (in particular, non-English-dominant
countries). One Advisory Council member will be a Graduate Student
Representative. The other members should be able to represent key areas
of gender and language research, and, together, a range of research
priorities.

Advisory Council members will be part of the IGALA Executive Committee
and will attend (in person or electronically) all meetings if at all
possible. The first of these will be at IGALA5 in Wellington, New
Zealand (July 3-5, 2008); the next will be an e-meeting around 12 months
after that. The term of office will be 3 years.

Nominations should be made to the IGALA Secretary, Ana Cristina
Osterman. Please make sure you send your nomination to her
<aco at unisinos.br> rather than to the entire list.

The closing date is Monday Dec. 24. Both 'nominators' and candidates
must be members of IGALA. Please indicate if the person you're
nominating is being nominated as the Graduate Student Representative.

Elections will take place after the end-of-year break.

Best wishes to all

Vicky Bergvall (IGALA Vice President/President Elect) and Jane
Sunderland (IGALA President)
