Dear Shahid,

I am not sure of this can be of help, but I have published in the past
on related issues of representation and performance of images of
womanhood in verbal art, also in connection to power, in Italy. Here
are some references to my articles. If you are interested and can't get
your hands on them I can e-mail you a copy.

Valentina Pagliai and Brooke Bocast. 2005 “Singing Gender: Contested
Discourses of Womanhood in Tuscan-Italian Verbal Art.” Pragmatics
Journal, 15 (4), December 2005.

Valentina Pagliai and Brooke Bocast. 2003 “Performing Hierarchies:
Language and Gender in Italian Verbal Art.” In Crossroads of Language,
Interaction and Culture, Vol. 5, 2003.

I also have a few unpublished papers I presented on the subject, again,
if they sound of any interest let me know:
1) The Construction of Images of Masculinity and Family Ties in Tuscan
Verbal Art. International Pragmatics Conference.
2) Singing the ‘Original’ Male: Doing/Undoing Masculinity in Speech
Play. American Anthropological Association.
3) Like Romeo and Juliet Upside Down: Gender and Power in Tuscan
Community Theater. American Anthropological Association.

Best,
