Dear Mary,

This book might be useful:

Gill, Rosalind (2007). Gender and the media. London: Polity.

The book is very student friendly; it offers a critical literature review, a discussion of key terms and debates, and offers a theorisation of the contradictory nature of contemporary gender representations in the media with examples from a number of different media forms.

Best wishes
Sarah

Subject: [GALA-L] recent books on language, gender/sexuality and film/media/performance?

Dear all,

I have a student in film studies who's looking for a recent book (not individual articles or chapters) on the above topic(s) for a class assignment. Can anyone recommend something from the past 5 years or so?

Thanks a lot,

Mary
