Lectureship in Linguistics

 

As part of Queen Mary, University of London’s strategic investment in
Humanities and Social Sciences, the School intends to appoint a Lecturer in
Linguistics. The post is intended to strengthen our research focus in
sociolinguistics, especially as it relates to variation in sound systems.
The successful candidate will be expected to convene and teach undergraduate
courses on the English Language and Linguistics degree programme in the
School, particularly in introductory phonetics, introductory phonology, and
language variation and change, and to contribute to postgraduate teaching.
The postholder will also be expected to contribute to the life of the School
in a more general way, by undertaking appropriate administrative duties. We
expect that the appointee will be engaged in producing and publishing
high-level research and should have, at least in press, high quality
publications.

 

The post is full time and permanent starting from September 2010. Starting
salary will be in the range £37332 - £42817 per annum inclusive of London
Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, final salary pension
scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK
in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where
required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under
the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
