Dear IGALA,

Louise Mullany and I have just brought out a new book entitled:

Mills and Mullany: Language Gender and Feminism: Theory Methodology and Practice, Routledge, 2011

pb: 978-0-415-48596-8
hb: p78-0-415-48595-1
Also available as an e-book

It covers a wide range of contemporary feminist theories and emphasises the importance of an interdisciplinary approach. Topics include power, language and sexuality, sexism and an exploration of the difference between second and third wave feminism. Each chapter presents examples from research coinducted in different cultural and linguistic contexts which allows students to observe practical applications of all current theories and approaches. Theories and approaches discussed include: feminist socilinguistics, feminist discourse analysis, feminist CDA, feminist CA, feminist pragmatics. The following methodological positions are also discussed: ethnography, participant observation, interviews, focus groups, questionnaires and DCTs, transcribing conventions and research ethics.
Best wishes
Sara Mills
