Queer Theory/ Queer Studies with an Emphasis on Queer of Color Critique, or Transnational Queer Studies with a Focus on Race

The Department of Feminist Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor in queer theory/queer studies with an emphasis on queer of color critique or transnational queer studies critically examining race.  

We seek candidates with interdisciplinary training in humanities and social science fields whose research and teaching is committed to conversations in feminist studies, women's studies, transgender studies, or gender and sexuality studies. The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, service, and mentoring graduate students.

The position entails supervision of the LGBTQ Studies minor and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in queer theory, queer of color critique and/or transnational queer studies, as well as additional core and upper-division courses in the candidate’s areas of specialization. We have a thriving major, minors, and a MA/PhD program with a focus on new sexualities and social justice.
