<P>Dear Mary, I believe the fruit peeler piece was from a women who was disgusted that the instructions for the device was specifically addressed to women- as if a man cannot possibly use it. More importantly to me: the phrase placed in the subject heading. " Oh boy!" comes from the ancient, and unfortunately present day, practice of female infanticide. In agricultural societies male children were valued more than girl babies. So when a child was born the adults present would excclaim,'oh boy!'. Did you know that the Chinese have a saying: "Girls are like maggots in the rice: they will cost you money"; in the same vein there is a prayer in asian cultures prior to death that invoke the kindness of the Creator to allow rebirth only as a male. !! Furthermore, the Asian practice of a bride price is to recapture the money extended to raise a girl. all the best,
