We have public lectures from renowned professors Saba Mahmood, Robyn
Wiegman and M.V. Lee Badgett as well as a research seminar from novelist
Delia Jarrett-Macauley.<br><br>

sexuality. Mahmood is associate professor of social cultural anthropology
at UC Berkeley. Her research interests focus on anthropology of subject
formation, liberalism, and secular modernity; feminist and
post-structuralist theory; religion and politics; Islam and the Middle

Professor Robyn Wiegman gives the the Journal of Feminist Theory Annual
Lecture, co-hosted by the Gender Institute. Widely known for her studied
reflections on academic feminism, Wiegman will turn her attention in this
talk to the idioms, affects, and temporalities of feminist theory. With
remarks from Jackie Stacey (Feminist Theory Journal) and Clare Hemmings

Novelist Delia Jarrett-Macauley will join us to present a research
seminar. Using her first novel 'Moses, Citizen and Me', (Granta, 2006)
she will focus on contemporary African childhoods both here in the UK and
on the continent. Jarrett-Macauley is a Visiting Fellow at the Gender
Institute for Michaelmas Term 2012. <br><br>
