with students attending the Institute (most of whom will be undergrads and grad students from linguistics and related disciplines). </span></p>

<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; text-decoration: none; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" class="ContentPasted0">As a mentor, you’ll be signing up for a</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: 700; text-decoration: none; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" class="ContentPasted0"> one-time,
one-hour virtual session</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; text-decoration: none; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" class="ContentPasted0"> with a mentee. The </span></p>
<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; text-decoration: none; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);" class="ContentPasted0">purpose of the mentoring sessions is to network and provide
more junior colleagues with support on their professional goals and interests, as well as discuss a variety of potential questions that may arise in a professional context (such as work/life balance, international student/faculty, publishing, job applications/interviews,
and racial/ethnic minority status). We encourage mentors to share resources that they have found useful to help avoid the common pitfalls scholars typically encounter and to connect on a more personal level. Follow-up meetings once the institute has ended
are welcome but not necessary.</span></p>

backgrounds, and identities, depending on the mentees’ preferences. The larger our pool of mentors, the easier it is for us to make meaningful matches!</span></p>

both parties to notify them of who they will be connecting with. Mentors will be asked to meet with their mentee
