I have one of the Men-At-Arms books called "Rome's Enemies 1:
Germanics and Dacians" and in it there is a picture of 4th century
Gothic warriors (I don't know wether they are Visigoths or Ostrogoths
though) and 2 of the foot soldies have tattoos on their arms, face,
and chest. The notes on the picture mentions that the Goths overran
groups of slavs and sarmatians and adopted some of their practices -
in this case tatooing of the body. It is interesting to note that the
Rus - the Vikings who settled in Russia and along the Black sea came
into contact with the same people and also adopted the practice of
tattooing.

Does anyone have more information on this??

Thanks,
Carl
