Of course there is an Indoeuropean influence
on the Germanic cults. There are numerous
examples of cult alliances/secret warrior alliances in the literature.
On of these alliances is of course the famous,
mentioned by Tacitus in _Germania_:

"For their part, the Harii, besides the military might
in which they surpass the peoples listed a little above,
savage as they are, enhance their inborn ferocity
by trickery and timing: their shields are black,
their bodies stained, they choose dark nights
for battles, and thus inspire terror with the shadowy
horror of a ghostly army. None of their enemies can
withstand that strange and so to speak hellish
sight: for in every battle the eyes are overcome first."
(Chapter 43).

> Well, a rather interesting book, a "must" indeed is "The White
> Goddess" by Robert Graves. Anyone intending to understand European
> culture of the last 3 millenia must read it.
