[gothic-l] Misrepresentations, debates, arguing, yada yada yada

well, personally, the first time I posted here, I was received
far more professionally And kinder by Bertil, and quite curt by
Tim. But I did not take it personally. I just took it as Tim is
probably a little more tense a person or sensitive a person than
I am used to, and thought nothing ill of him.

And I cannot Possibly be the only one on the list who takes
everything as a well heated debate of historical issues... can
I?

You people actually get 'upset' over all this?
This is just my opinion, but ...if this sort of minor strife
grates your nerves (referring to the alleged Bertil/Tim/whoever
scenario), then you are in for a rude awakening in the 'real'
world. It's a lot uglier.

My advice... lighten up, listen to some Bach, sip a sangria or a
cappaccino, light a candle, do some light research/reading, and
realize that not everyone in the world has the exact same
personality as you. It doesn't make them 'bad', it makes them
'different' from you ('you' as in the generalized 'you all' or
'all of you' or 'those of you to whom this applies'), ...and
being 'different' is the whole bloody reason we are here
discussing "differences of ancient/classical/medieval
cultures/societies" to begin with.

And frankly, I rather like the directions people go with their
opinions. It opens up thought and ideas into radically
'different' perspectives. And the fact that people are sent
reeling or backpeddling in a debate will do nothing more than
prepare them for the real event (in r/l).

Be a bit more even tempered people... we're here to learn from
each other. Not get upset because we do not agree with someone's
ideas, publishing/resource methodology, or counter-debate
techniques.

And on that note... let's get back with it, ay? I came here to
learn more... not watch an electronic likeness of my children
squabbling (G-L)
