Sixteenth Gothic Roman War 400 - 403 AD

Alarich breaks into Italy to form a Gothic kingdom
there. Stilicho hastens to Gaul to gather enough
Roman troops for a campaign against Alarich. The
result is that the Rhine border finally is abandoned.
Alarich took Venetia, Liguria and Tuscia and corners
the West Roman Emperor at Asti. Stilicho marched
over the Alps and north Italy, terribly plundered remains
imperial after the victory of Stilicho in the battle
at Pollentia 402 AD. But the Gothic army is still in
Italy, in Etruria, for a year but retreats to Venetia to
try to capture Verona, to be used as base for further
campaign. But Stilicho once mor defeated the Goths
in the battle at Verona in 403 AD. Alarich retreated
to Illyria and accepted a Roman offer of union.
>From 404 AD the West Roman Emperor recided at
Ravenna.
