I'm a Ukranian Goth, though my mother is Crimean. I tend to wear
loose woollen trousers with hand stitched leather shoes, or boots
when I'm riding, with a linen tunic and a woollen cloak with a bow
brooch I took as plunder raiding the Taifali. In battle I carry a
leather covered wooden shield and use the old Sarmatian sword my
grandfather passed to me when he died.

I visited one of the Greek cities on the Black Sea once and got quite
a few stares in the market place there. Someone called me
a 'Scythian' so I asked what that was. When it was explained that it
meant 'barbarian' or 'savage' I punched the guy. A few of his
friends got angry then, so my companions and I drew our weapons and
the South men soon backed off.

No-one messes with Goths where I come from.

Does that help?

PS Sorry, I couldn't resist either. ;>
