Goth. managei means in fact "multitude, crowd", being derived from the 
adjective manags "much, many". It is related to Germ. Mänge, Eng. 
many, etc.
To Sanskrit manu, ON maðr, proto-Germanic *mannus, corresponds the 
Gothic word manna "man" (and German Mann, English man, Danish mand, 
etc.)
