I am somewhat surprised by the unprofessional way some people
discuss our antique and medieval sources. If you want to compare
two sources and inform yourself about their dependency on each
other, I would suggest you consult either one of the standard literary
histories or read the forewords to the critical editions of these texts
and not their register. Of course Paulus Diaconus knew and used
Jordanes and both authors are abundantly preserved together in
medieval manuscripts.
