Hails Cory jah Francisc jah allaim!

Cory qast:
>>Similarly Bishop Wulfila may have chosen "aithei" instead of "modar" to
>>describe the Blessed Virgin Mary and other mothers, so as to avoid any
>>suggestion of an earth- mother goddess, such as Nerthus.

I think this is a salient point.
>From Wright:

áiþei, wf. mother, 6, 212. OHG. eidî, MHG. eide.
aírþa, sf. earth, land, region, 10, 97, 171, 192. OE. eorþa, OHG. erda.

If the Gutans called a goddess mother earth it would be ´ áiþei airþa ´.
Would it be more possible that one is derived from another and if this was
the case of cognates, then Wulfilas would have likewise choosen a non
heathen word to describe a Christian phenonmenon, as atta vs. fadar to
describe him himins fadar
