Historical References

Keth,

Those who have published after 1945.

My personal view is that Hoops Encyclopedia,
2nd ed., provides a good bibliography and some
valuable insights concerning the possible
migration of the Goths from Scandza (Scandinavia).
Especially important is the linguistic connection
between Gauts, Goths and gutar. Also important
is the additional information Jordanes provided
on Scandza. He did not just mention the island
but provided a long list of peoples, which according
to him lived on the island (that is the Scandinavian
peninsula). These rich detail further enhances the
probability of the Jordanes information.

It is however important to stress the additional
cultural influence of the Goths. They were certainly
not only Scandinavians when they reached Italy
and Spain.

Or as Professor Hermodsson expressed it:

anslutning fraan olika haall.
omraadet, anm.).

In an interesting section on Roman-Germanic inheritance of
the Goths Professor Hermodsson points out:

Gothically
