Hi Bertil,
What's the semantic connection between well and seethe + sjuda?
I can't see any...

Instead I see a clear connection between seethe and sjuda on one
hand, and hebrew zijd/zuwd wich means hif. 1) boil 2)become heated(of
passion)3) treat arrogantly and qal. Treat insolently (Holladay ,
1971 : A concise hebrew and aramaic) lexicon

Langenscheidt's says: to seethe; to be proud arrogant. Hi. to cause
to boil to cook ; to act proudly , wickedly

Wilhelm Gesenius the father of modern hebrew lexicology from 1834 -
greek letters etc.):" 1) kochen, sieden(vgl engl. to seeth gr---),
vom Wasser, nach dem Schalle des Zischens gebildet( vgl. ----
zischen) vervandt mit "duwd"( this word written with hebrew square
font). S Niph. Hiph.
2) trop. ubermutig , stolz vermessen seyn und handeln...." a rather
long article so I dont rewrite the whole.
Anyway, it looks like even Gesenius himself sees a connection between
the hebrew and the english word.
Amazing isn't it?
