..im a novice at this so bare with me(or get out the stick), but i read about the gokturk and the futhark and they look identical, and i also read somewhere else by "the same author" that what happened was the "two" people needed to trade and one not having a written script naturly learned the one of the people they where trading with(and perhaps "Odin" was doing the talking) ...i dont know if that has been presented to you before..but i think that might could be some connection...

...glad to see "a lot" of people out talking about this........
