Old Icelandic "jormuni" (with "hooked o")
does not mean a "horse" or an "ox".
It is merely listed in the Thulur as a possible poetic name
for a horse or an ox:

Øxna heiti. [B1 - 669]
2. Himinhriot, cattle
and hard-goer,
Hæfir [hoofed], stout one,
roarer, stot,
Hlid, Stuf and Lit,
Hrid [storm], draughtox,
Arf [inheritance], Iormuni
and mighty smith.
