Dear Gazariah,

I'm not a specilist in linguistics, only amateur, but I agree with
you.
I didn't read Wright's Grammar, but in other sources that I have
seen, those changes mentioned by you, like /u/ > /o/ are assigned to
West Germanic, not to Common Germanic. Of course, there is an /u/
> /o/ change aslo in North Germanic, but not in the same conditions
as in West Germanic (cf. PGm *burgs > Got. baurgs, NGm. borg, but OHG
burg; on the other hand, the form "guth" for "god" is attested also
in ON, beside the form "goth").
