Vladimir,

And it was the question of umlaut in Gothic (which I think highly
doubtful) that I was trying to address. If <jarilo> is in any
possible way a borrowing from Gothic (and thus relevant to the
discussion of umlaut), knowing how long the name has been around in
Russian would be very important.

But I'll agree to drop this question as likely to be too obscure and
Slavic for the interests of this group.
