Etymology of Ataulf/Athaulf - Wikipedia controversy

The English wikipedia states:

  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ataulf

"Ataulf (sometimes Athavulf [1], Atawulf [2], or Athaulf—"father-
wolf"[dubious – discuss]—Latinized as Ataulphus or Adolphus; in
Spanish and Portuguese Ataúlfo) was king of the Visigoths from 410 to
415 CE."

There is also a redirect from Athaulf to Ataulf. I was wondering if
anyone on this list can address the dispute, and, more importantly,
cite scholarly sources on it, on the wikipedia talk page.

Thanks.
