 You cite  Wolfram about religion not being a close border for Gothic ethnicity but mayhap you read my article indicating the great importance of the pre-Chrstian Gothic society just of religion and also, how important Arianism was (see also Söhrmans article) for the Goths when they were mixed up with Romans and other. Gemeinsam Abstammung in biological sense is not the thing but Gemeinsam Religiöse Abstammung is imperative and also extant groups could  easily be  included in the official religion!
