No need to kick yourself: making mistakes is an integral part of language-learning, and everyone makes them. As to your question about the dative of place, it appears to be less common than a prepositional construction, judging by the limited number of instances in the Gothic Bible. An example of such usage can be found at 1 Tm 6,5 "frawardidaize manne ahin" = 'of those corrupted in mind', with "ahin" = 'in mind' being the dative singular of 'aha'. An example from Old English can be found in >Beowulf< (3083), to wit, "wicum wunian" = 'to bide in dwellings'. I was under the impression that the Gothic composition in question here was meant to serve as lyrics for a song, in which case a more poetic feature, which the dative of place appears to have been in the early Germanic languages, would not be out of place, hence my bringing it up.<br>
