<p><div dir="ltr">I think that for our modern Gothic using the Latin names would be most practical. Also, the Gothic calendar shows how the Goths at least for one month used a Latin month name so it isn't that strange if we adapt the idea. <p>Why the Gothic month-names should line with those in Slavic rather than those in the other early Germanic languages escapes me. First, I thought the differences between traditional Slavic calendars corresponded with the differences between the regional climates, planting times, harvest times, etc. rather than with more accidents of who did or didn’t apply an extra month.
