<p><div dir="ltr">According to the Manuel de la langue Gothique by Fernand Mossé the word "ei" in Gothic is very often combined with the optative. If you read the Gothic Bible, you will see that "ei" is often combined with an optative indeed. The optative doesn't only express a wish, but also something which is possible but not certain, that's called an Irrealis I believe. Therefore, also if something is uncertain the optative is used.<div><br></div><div>I would like to ask what "ei" means in your poem/song? As for the optative, in this case the verbs are not expressing wishes but rather making statements of what the subject does/is doing.
