Final call for papers: First Workshop on Spanish Sociolinguistics

March 14th & 15th, 2002
University at Albany


The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the
University at Albany (State University of New York) is pleased
to announce its First Workshop on Spanish Sociolinguistics

Possible topics include:

I.Dialect variation in Spanish: both at the social and geographic
 level.

II.Spanish in contact including:
a. Spanish in contact with other languages in Spain, Latin
America and elsewhere.

b.Spanish/English bilingualism in the US: both in the case of
heritage speakers and immigrants.


We welcome original papers (30 minutes in length, 20 min
presentation/10 min discussion) on any situation of dialect
variation, language contact, and bilingualism involving Spanish.

Abstracts should be submitted no later than January 15, 2002 to
