Request for input & assistance: National Limited English Proficiency Advocacy Task Force

Hello All,

Sorry about cross-postings.

I am the Coordinator of the National Limited English Proficiency (LEP)
Advocacy Task Force, a group of stakeholders who actively support the
laws
prohibiting discrimination on the basis of national origin because of
language and cultural differences.

Our new website (not up yet) will have a section, "So Why Don't They
Just
Learn English?" This will be a very basic introduction to the second
language acquisition process. I would appreciate anything folks may be
willing to share from workshop presentations etc... to clearly and
simply
explain this process....

I am also interested in basic information, especially in charts,
illustrations etc...along the lines of "Challenges to Academic Success
in
School" by Virginia Collier.... something like - how the refugee
experience
and other factors impact acculturation.

We will also have a Resource Directory, where folks may voluntary list
themselves as resources for specific areas of interest such as
linguistics,
cultural anthropology etc. Anyone interested in being included please
send
me a brief bio and complete contact information.
