2005 Summer Program in Portuguese at the University of Massachusetts*

Located in the heart of a region that boasts the largest Brazilian, Cape
Verdean, and Portuguese communities in the United States, the University
of Massachusetts Dartmouth provides a unique environment to learn
Portuguese in a thorough immersion setting. This year's Summer Program
in Portuguese Lecture Series will include presentations by noted
scholars from major universities throughout the United States. The
Concert Series, featuring professional artists, will include music from
Brazil, Cape Verde and Portugal. Courses offered: POR 103 Intensive
Elementary Portuguese; POR 203 Intensive Intermediate Portuguese; POR
308 Advanced Grammar and Syntax; HST 376 History of Brazil; POR 481/581
The Short Story in the Portuguese-speaking world; SOC 353/ANT 353 Race,
Ethnicity, Politics and the Nation in the Lusophone World; POR 495
