Journal of Borderlands Education

Call for Manuscripts

Journal of Borderlands Education (JBE) is announcing an
inaugural peer-reviewed online journal dedicated to exploring
the multiple aspects of borderlands education in and around
the United States and abroad.

JBE publishes critical, integrative pieces of research and
literature pertaining to education and the notions of borders
and the borderland. Potential publications should include
conceptualizations, interpretations, and syntheses of
literature and scholarly work in the respective field.
Likewise, JBE encourages the submission of research and
creative works relevant to education from any discipline,
such as psychology, sociology, history, philosophy, political
science, economics, instructional technology, statistics,
anthropology, and biology, provided that the review centers
on educational and border/borderland issues.

The following categories are represented in JBE: Curriculum,
Instruction, Policy Analysis, and Creative Works.

JBE welcomes a wide variety of submissions. Submission might
include field-based experiences or research, papers on the
successful practices to promote school improvement in border
communities, discussions of the application of research to
practice, position papers, literature reviews, artistic works
regarding the border, and book reviews. Generally,
submissions that are selected should be accessible to a wide
audience (informal, practical, and readable format).

For detailed submission requirements please refer to the JBE
web site: http://education.nmsu.edu/jbe and click on the
Guidelines link. To complete the submission process click on
the Submissions link, fill out the information, and attach
your document.

The JBE embraces broader interpretations of the notions
regarding borders and borderlands in relation to education
issues. As an example, research examining Hmong students’
experiences as they adapt to educational environments in the
Midwest would be of interest the JBE community. The JBE has
interest in exploring a broader notion of borders/borderlands
than fixed geographical lines. In recognition of this notion
of borders/borderlands, the JBE aspires to include multiple
languages. Currently, the JBE has resources to accept
submissions in Spanish and English.

Thank you for your kind attention.
