Call for Proposals: Heritage Language Journal, Special Issue on Heritage Language Learning and Identity (Proposal Deadline January 31, 2008) 
 
The Heritage Language Journal invites proposals for its upcoming Special Issue, “Heritage Language Learning and Identity.” The Editors seek proposals that examine issues of  identity among heritage language learners from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.  Topics may include, but are not limited to: attitudes and motivation, the construction of identity, identity in relation to language and/or cultural competence, age differences and identity, and the role of identity in heritage learning contexts.
 
We welcome proposals from a variety of theoretical perspectives as well as case studies.
 
Initial proposals are due by January 31, 2008, and should be no more than 1,000 words.

The Heritage Language Journal (Olga Kagan and Kathleen Dillon, editors) is an on-line, peer reviewed journal published by the UCLA Center for World Languages, the National Heritage Language Resource Center, and the UC Consortium for Language Learning and Teaching.
