Community-Based Heritage Language Schools: Promoting Collaboration among Educators, Families, and Researchers

Saturday, September 27, 2014, 8:00am – 6:30pm
Pre-Conference Event: Friday, September 26, 2014, 4:00pm – 6:00pm

Location: Mary Graydon Center 2-5, American University, Washington DC

This conference will bring together teachers, administrators, and parents involved in community-based language schools, along with language researchers, to explore ways to address important issues that heritage/community language education currently faces.

The conference will feature presentations by leaders in the field of heritage language education who will also lead discussions with educators and parents as they share best practices to help us collaboratively seek effective solutions to common challenges.

The organizers hope that this conference will start productive partnerships in which community-based language schools work together as well as with parents, public, private, and charter school programs, universities, and other organizations to advance the goal of supporting the rich heritage language resources in our country.
