TLI has been teaching Chinese as a second language for over 40 years. They havepublished language materials for all ages and have assisted many U.S. universities in setting up their Chinese programs. Courses will include Chinese phonetics and applications, pinyin romanization, standard pronunciation, Chinese grammar and sentence patterns, vocabulary development, the origin and etymology of Chinese characters, second language teaching theory and teaching demonstrations. Certification: Participants will be tested at the end of the course and those who pass will receive a certificate from TLI-Language 2 Academy Chinese Language Center. Those certificates will also qualify participants to work at TLI centers around the world including: TLI-L2A Chinese Language Center in San Jose, CA Any of 5 Taipei Language Institute locations in Taiwan Taipei Language Institutes in Beijing and Shanghai, China Taipei Language Institute in Tokyo, Japan Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as Saturday afternoons for four weeks beginning April 11, 2000, and culminating in a graduation ceremony on May 6, 2000. Cost: Fees for all 36 hours of training and materials add up to $500.00. Participants enrolled by March 3rd will receive a $50.00 discount on the tuition.
