My name is Emily Howard and I am a senoir at Upper Arlington High School in
Columbus, Ohio. I am currently doing a project on bilingual education and
heritage languages, comparing the United States to Guatemala. I was hoping
you would know of some excellent resourses about this topic that I could look
into. My focus is on the importance of HLE in the classroom, and creating
awarness of the situation. I am also preparing to leave for Guatemala
where I will be teaching in a school in Solola (with an accent on the last
syllable!). Right now the situation is Guatemala is similar to what we
face in the US, in that the assumption is everyone speaks Spanish like everyone
assumes English is the best language to teach in here. If you have
any suggestions as I continue my research I would really appriciate
it!!!</DIV>
