<P><FONT face=Arial size=2>Position: Project Manager</FONT> <BR><FONT
face=Arial size=2>Responsible to: LLAP Steering Committee and Fiscal
Sponsor</FONT> </P>
<P><FONT face=Arial size=2>Job Summary: The Legal Language Access Project (LLAP)
seeks a dynamic and experienced professional to serve as its project
manager. Launched in October, 2000, LLAP's mission is to facilitate full
and equal access to justice and legal services by low-income individuals and
seniors who have limited English proficiency through the provision of affordable
community interpretation and translation services. The project is a
collaborative endeavor of the East Bay Asian Consortium, the Community Projects
Committee of the Alameda County Bar Association, and several nonprofit legal
service providers and community-based organizations serving immigrant and
refugee communities in the East Bay. The project manager is responsible
for overall management of LLAP, including fiscal management, fundraising,
program development, and managing day-to-day operations.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Arial size=2>Major Duties and Responsibilities:</FONT> <BR><FONT
face=Arial size=2>- Manage budget and monitor expenditures</FONT>
<BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Develop grants and contracts to sustain
project</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Provide timely reports to
funders, steering committee and fiscal sponsor</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial
size=2>- Conduct outreach and marketing strategies for sustainable
expansion of services</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Oversee
coordination of interpreter/translation services, database management, and
billing</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Work closely with community
organizations and government entities to reduce linguistic and cultural barriers
faced by LEP clients seeking public services</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Oversee coordination of and conduct training
workshops for interpreters and attorneys or advocates and others who work with
interpreters</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Hire, coordinate, and evaluate staff,
contractors, and volunteers</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Organize
and facilitate regular meetings of steering committee</FONT> </P>
<P><FONT face=Arial size=2>Qualifications:</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial
size=2>- Bachelor's degree in related field, Master's degree or JD
preferred</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Significant experience in
non-profit management</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>- At least three
to five years paid administrative experience</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial
size=2>- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational
skills</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Established record in
fundraising</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Familiarity with
community resources</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Native, or
near-native proficiency in a language other than English preferred</FONT>
<BR><FONT face=Arial size=2>- Able to work with diverse individuals,
client communities, and service providers</FONT> <BR><FONT face=Arial
size=2>- Demonstrated commitment to social justice</FONT> <BR><FONT
face=Arial size=2>- Background in poverty law, interpreting/translation,
and pedagogy preferred</FONT> </P>
