The ISHL nominating committee expects to
make a recommendation to the Society by the end of April regarding
the venue of the 23rd International Conference on Historical
Linguistics in 2017. Formally this is done by nominating an
individual from that institution as President of the
Society/Conference Director for 2017. Historical linguists are
therefore invited to consider whether they would like to host the
conference at their institution and submit nominations if they are
interested.

A formal proposal to host the conference requires a brief
(one-page)
statement describing the suitability of the institution/city and
the proposed conference arrangements, and a formal letter of
support from a senior administrator
at the University stating that the institution is happy to
host the
conference (a financial guarantee is not required). Formal
proposals should be sent to myself as Chair of the
Nominating Committee, copied to JC Smith

the Society by the end of March. We have received several

not yet made us aware of its intention to bid should
establish informal contact before then.
