Non-constituent coordination

Hi,

	I must be missing something in the current usage of the star:

>	  John wrote Mary a letter and an email to Peter.
>	* John wrote an email to Peter and Mary a letter.

	The second sentence perfectly grammatical, it just means something
	different.

	(Sorry if that was obvious, but it could equally explain why the
	parallel doesn't work).
