Dear HPSG community,

There was an error in the previous CfP for the ellipsis workshop ECBAE
2023. *Abstracts should be max. 2 pages long (with one page for figures &
references).*

Thank you for sharing the CfP below with your colleagues who may be
interested in ellipsis phenomena.

The fifth edition of the *Experimental and Corpus-based Approaches to
Ellipsis (ECBAE) *will be held in a hybrid format on *09 July 2023* at the
University of Massachusetts Amherst, in conjunction with the LSA Linguistic
Institute 2023 and following the 30th International Conference on
Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammar on 07-08 July 2023.

*Invited speaker*: Dan Parker (The Ohio State University)

The purpose of this conference is to bring together researchers who have
been working on elliptical phenomena with special emphasis on methodologies
aiming to improve the empirical foundations of the discussion, specifically
psycholinguistic experimentation (acceptability and eye-tracking
experiments, in particular) and corpus investigations. Contributions will
be welcome concerning (i) the specific experimental methodologies being
used in psycholinguistics, and how they can be improved to give more
reliable and interpretable results; (ii) the way corpus data can be brought
to bear on theoretical questions; and (iii) how corpus data can be used to
improve the results of psycholinguistic experiments, specifically by
increasing the naturalness of the materials by providing new hypotheses. We
are proposing this conference as a continuation of a conference series held
successfully during the LSA 2017 and 2019 Linguistic Institutes, online in
2020, and during the SLE 2022 conference.

*Submissions*

We invite anonymous submissions to the ECBAE workshop:

· Abstracts should be max. 2 pages long (with one page for figures &
references).

· They should be submitted in PDF format.

· The submissions should not include the authors’ names, and authors are
asked to avoid self-references.

· Please specify whether you intend to present your paper in person,
online, or haven’t decided yet.

All abstracts should be submitted in via Easychair:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ecbae2023.

All abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by at least two reviewers.

Accepted papers are expected to give a 30-minute presentation.

The workshop proceedings will be published online in a collective volume. A
call for contributions to the proceedings will be issued after the
conference.

*Important Dates*

Abstract submission deadline: *24 February 2023 *(anywhere on earth)

Notifications of acceptance: 17 April 2023

*Venue*

The workshop will take place at the University of Massachusetts Amherst
(the venue of the LSA Linguistic Institute 2023).
