ANNOUNCEMENT<br>

Subsequent to the conference HPSG-2001 (Aug. 3-5), the Linguistics
Department, NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology,
Trondheim), offers a one week summer school in Constraint-based grammars,
primarily HPSG. <br>
<br>
Topics include Syntax and Semantics in HPSG (and also Construction
Grammar), Statistical approaches to grammar, and Grammar Engineering.
<br>
<br>
Lecturers include Ivan A. Sag, Stanford University, Jean-Pierre Koenig,
State University of New York, Buffalo, Robert P. Malouf, University of
Groningen, and Frederik Fouvry, Universität des Saarlandes. (Further
lecturers are still to be confirmed.) <br>
<br>
The school is sponsored by the Norwegian Research Council and the
Language Technology Programme of NorFA, and is open for everyone
interested. (Capacity limitations can be envisaged only for a practical
course in Grammar Engineering.) <br>
There is no participation fee. <br>

The school is situated in time right between HPSG-2001 (Aug. 3-5, also in
Trondheim), and ESSLLI 2001 (Aug. 13-24, in Helsinki - cf.
<a href="http://www.helsinki.fi/esslli/" eudora="autourl">http://www.helsinki.fi/esslli/</a>).
The school starts in the afternoon on Monday 6th, and ends in the early
afternoon on Saturday 11th. <br>

</u></font>The site for the school is at the University Centre at
Dragvoll (in beautiful, hilly surroundings at the outskirt of town, with
a view to the fjord, and direct access to hiking and biking trails).

The room situation in Trondheim is very tight this week, due to a number
of coinciding conferences and exhibitions, and a bulk reservation has
therefore been made at Trondheim Vandrerhjem. Reservations can be made
through the organizers. In addition a few guesthouse facilities near the
school site will be available.<br>
<br>
A program, with information about the courses, will be available by the
end of April.<br>
