Subject: Toolbox for Mac Alpha test 0.1 available for testing
From: "Alan Buseman" <alan_buseman at sil.org>

To those who have expressed interest in Toolbox for Mac,

The first alpha test of Toolbox for Mac is available for testing.
You can download it at:

www.sil.org/computing/toolbox/downloads.htm

Please understand that this is a very limited subset of the full
Toolbox functionality. It should be usable for basic dictionary
editing, but it does not yet have most of the tools that make
Windows Toolbox what it is. Toolbox for Mac cannot yet
browse, sort, or handle interlinear text.

Be sure to download both the program and the documentation.
The documentation includes more details on what the program
can and cannot do, and a walkthrough with a sample to give
you an idea of what it is like. Even if you do not test it on
any data of your own, you can get a feel for what it is like
by doing the walkthrough.

My primary purpose in putting out this test version is to get
feedback on further development of Toolbox for Mac. If you
test it, please respond with the following information:

1. Does it look and feel like a native Mac program?

2. Did you find any problems during your testing?

3. Which missing features do you most wish for?

4. How much do you care about having a native Toolbox
for Mac? Are you already running Windows Toolbox using something like
Parallels? If so, is it working well for you? If it takes me two more years
of work to make a fairly full version of Toolbox for Mac, will it help you a
lot?

Thank you for your help,
Alan Buseman
