Indigenous song loss 'a national crisis'

A professor of Indigenous music has described the disappearance of traditional
Aboriginal songs in Australia as a national crisis.

Charles Darwin University's Professor Allan Marett was one of 20 experts who
attended a symposium on Indigenous music and dance in Darwin at the weekend.

Professor Marett has been studying Aboriginal culture for more than 20 years and
says 98 per cent of traditional songs have been lost.
