Indigenous languages being revived, conference hears

SASKATOON — Indigenous languages such as Cree are experiencing a revival, but
much more needs to be done to ensure their long-term survival, said a speaker
at the First Nations Language Keepers Conference in Saskatoon today.

“There is a resurgence. These languages are not dead. But we need to take
action,” said Priscilla Settee, an associate professor of Native studies at the
University of Saskatchewan.
