For whatever reason several studies have shown that Native American children and
adults perform much less well on tests of general knowledge, vocabulary,
arithmetic, verbal memory, comprehension, and abstract similarities (measures
of verbal abilities that are mainly a product of left cerebral hemisphere
functioning) than they do on tests of visual-spatial, visual searching, visual
sequencing, object assembly and eye-hand coordination tasks (measures of
performance abilities mainly a product of right cerebral hemisphere
functioning). Whatever the cause, be it racial, cultural, political, spiritual,
social, neurological, biological, psychological, cosmic rays, environmental
toxic contamination or global warming - it is what it is.
