recording sound through web

Hi everyone,
does anyone know of an application (or whether it's possible to write a java
program) to record sound remotely? What I want to do is have a web form
where someone can click on a word, use their computer to record the word
(ideally without having to install extra software) and then have the file
automatically saved on my server. There must be distance learning tools that
do this sort of thing?
