Highlands host Aboriginal language camp

They came to the Highlands to learn their own language – to revitalize what
was once the only language spoken in what is now Haliburton County.

For the past couple of weeks, a group called Ciiman (pronounced chee-maun,
meaning canoe) camped near Cranberry Lake on land owned by John and Thea
Patterson holding beginners' lessons in Anishinaabemowin, or Ojibwe, the
most common of Aboriginal languages in Ontario.
